This fragment of a glass bottle was found at the native hillfort settlement of Traprain Law in East Lothian. It is a quality Roman object, one of a number found there, acquired by gift or trade sometime between 80 and 200 AD.

Glass bottles were widely used by the Romans for a number of purposes. They were hand blown, sometimes into a mould, and occasionally have the maker's name on the base. Some glass bottles may also have been imported for their contents.
