Oil lamp

This oil lamp with a scallop shell-shaped base was made by John Steele of Edinburgh in the 19th century. It is made of black tin.

The lamp has a long hook hanger and two metal-rings to hold a glass shade (now missing). The label on the base reads 'MANUFACTURED / BY / JOHN STEELE / EDINBURGH'.
