Candleholders

These three hanging candleholders date from the 18th century. They are made of iron.

Hanging candleholder of wrought iron, with a twisted stem which has a hook at the top, 18th century

Candles were made from wax or tallow - mutton fat or pig fat, or less commonly, beef fat.
