Oil lamp

This hanging oil lamp comes from Orkney. Made of tin, it dates from the 19th century.

The lamp consists of two round cylindrical vessels, one inside the other. The top vessel is the fuel reservoir, with a spout - made of copper - for the wick. The lower vessel is the drip pan with a trough mounted below the spout of the upper vessel.
