Thimble and needle holder, and a thimble and cotton reel

This wooden thimble and needle holder (left), the cotton reel and the silver thimble, date from the 19th century. The thimble was made as a souvenir of the 1851 Great Exhibition in London.

The holder has a view of Broomielaw Bridge in Glasgow, while the thimble is decorated with a view of the Crystal Palace and is inscribed `Great Exhibition, Hyde Park, 1851'.
