Fan

Folding fan with double leaf of chicken skin, sticks of carved ivory, guards of carved mother of pearl. New leaf fitted to old frame and painted with borders to fit.

Painted scene with History in centre being crowned, with Hercules and Time on her left and Painting on her right, the latter with her arm about a young man crowned with a laurel wreath.

The subject suggests the fan was presented as a gift on the birth of a prince.
