This framed portrait medallion of Professor John Anderson (1726-96) was made in England in 1789 by J. Tassie. The portrait is made of opaque white glass.

John Anderson became Professor of Oriental Languages at Glasgow University in 1756 and of Natural Philosophy in 1760. His 'Institutes of Physics' (1786) became a standard work.
