Jug

This Wemyss Ware jug was made at Robert Heron's pottery at Kirkcaldy in Fife. It dates from the early 20th century.

The jug is painted with a design influenced by Earlshall Castle at Leuchars in Fife.

Earlshall Castle was the home of R.W.R. Mackenzie who commissioned the architect Robert Lorimer to restore it. Rooks were a prominent feature in the trees around the castle.
