Model, of Old College, University of Edinburgh

This is a cut-paper model of the east front of the Old College of the University of Edinburgh. The model is based on prints of Robert Adam's designs and dates from around 1790. It may have been an example of craft-work from a girls' finishing school.

The model is painted in watercolours.

Although the foundation stone was laid in 1789, prints of Adam's elevations for the new University buildings were published in the summer of 1791 as part of an appeal to raise funds to continue the building project.
