This earthenware plate was made around 1820 by John Geddes of the Verreville Pottery in Glasgow.

The centre depicts a church painted in purple lustre. The border pattern is of green and orange flowers.

John Geddes was originally the manager of the Verreville works at Finnieston on the Clyde and between 1806 and 1824, he was the owner. The name means glass town and emphasises that the firm originally produced glass as well as pottery.
