Model, of cradle

This wooden model cradle bears a picture on the hood of Burns' Cottage at Alloway in South Ayrshire. The model dates from the 19th century.

Printed on the end of the model cradle is 'Bought in The Cottage' and a verse.

19th-century wooden souvenirs, which were produced in vast quantities, often featured images of local views. They are a permanent record of the holiday journeys made in Scotland, and of the images which, for the holidaymakers, represented Scotland.
