Silver tea service made in India, 1896 - 1906

This four-piece silver tea service was made in India between around 1896 and 1906. It consists of a teapot, coffee pot, sugar basin and milk jug. It was presented to the Reverend Robert Dewar in 1906 on his retirement from a United Free Church in Calcutta.

The tea service is elaborately decorated with friezes of Hindu deities.

At the United Free Church in Calcutta, the Reverend Robert Dewar ministered to the European population of the city.
