Medallion of Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville

This paste medallion is of Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville, the most powerful of Scotland's political managers during the later 18th century. The medallion was made in the late 18th century by James Tassie.

James Tassie (1735-99) was born and educated in Glasgow, but moved to London in 1766, where he produced paste medallions of the important and fashionable figures of the day.
