Add to album

This wine glass commemorates William II (III of England) and his victory over the forces of James VII at the Battle of the Boyne of 1690. It was made between 1740 and 1750.

The wine glass is engraved with William on horseback. The inscription reads 'The Glorious Memory of King William, Boyne 1st July 1690'.

Glasses appropriately engraved were used for Protestant loyalist toasts long after the death of William in 1702.
