Cloak, of Buchanan tartan

This woman's woollen cloth cloak is woven in the Buchanan tartan and dates from around 1800-10. It was worn by the donor's great-grandmother.

The armholes, collar and cape are all bound with dark green silk.

The straight cut of the cloak follows the narrow vertical line of early 19th-century women's dress.
