Woman's summer dress of cotton muslin

This woman's handsewn summer dress of cotton muslin is printed with a floral pattern in shades of lilac. The design is arranged to form separate flounces. The dress was made in Britain around 1855.

Part of a woman's summer dress of fine white cotton muslin, printed with a floral pattern in shades of lilac - bodice: British, about 1854 - 1856

The dress is very similar in pattern, material, dye and date to a sample given to the Museum in 1858 by Crum's of Thornliebank in Glasgow.
