Honey pot, made at Kirkcaldy, Fife
Add to album

This earthenware Weymss Ware honey pot was made in the early 20th century at Robert Heron & Sons' pottery at Kirkcaldy in Fife.

The bee hive pot is hand-painted with hay and bees in flight.

Heron's Fife Pottery is perhaps best known for its brightly painted, highly fashionable and expensive Wemyss Ware. The characteristic freely-painted decoration was introduced by Karel Nekola, a Czech who arrived in Kirkcaldy in 1883.
