One-guinea banknote, The Glasgow Arms Bank, 1 April 1778
The Glasgow Arms Bank opened with support from the Royal Bank of Scotland in 1750. It derived its name from the coat-of-arms of Glasgow which featured on its banknotes. Never particularly successful, it closed in 1793.
