Banknote (front), One pound, issued by Dundee Banking Company

This is the front of a one pound banknote issued by the Dundee Banking Company on 9 August 1824. The note is dated and numbered by hand.

Made payable to William Webster, the note is signed by the accountant and the cashier.

The Dundee Banking Company was established in 1763. Initially its notes were very plain with no vignettes. Later notes were slightly more decorative and by the mid 1800s the notes were much more elaborate.
