This is the gold badge of office of the President of the Society of Inspectors of Poor in Scotland. It was made in Birmingham in 1907 and engraved by Fenton & Co Ltd of Edinburgh. The society was established in 1858.

The badge has a shield with a red lion rampant. The inscription reads 'Society of Inspectors of Poor, Scotland'.
