Cooking pot

This 12th-century cooking pot was found during excavations at Kelso Abbey in the Borders in 1975-6.

The base of the straight-sided pot is largely complete.

Kelso Abbey was established in 1128 by a group of monks who came to Scotland from Tiron in France. The monks were granted extensive land, which brought rent and taxes to the monastery.
