This early map of Scotland is a print of the 'Scotiae Tabula' of Abraham Ortelius of 1573. The print dates from the 17th century and is labelled 'Doig, Wilson and Wheatley, Edinburgh' on the back.

Advances in surveying and map production brought greater knowledge of the wider world in the late 16th and 17th century. New techniques also helped Scotland to become one of the best mapped countries of the 17th-century world.
