Print, of memorial to Thomas Clapperton

This framed print is of the memorial monument of Thomas Clapperton who died in 1865. The original monument can still be seen in St Cuthbert's Kirkyard in Edinburgh.

The monument is in the style of a classical arch with an urn above it. The urn was a popular adornment to gravestones because of its association with ancient burials.
