Document (first page), associated with Rob Roy Macgregor

This is the first page of a document dated 27 December 1711 which 'obliges' Robert Campbell (Rob Roy Macgregor) to deliver to James, the Duke of Montrose, 60 Kintail highland cows at 14 pounds Scots each and one bull.

When the document was folded, the title - 'Obligation Campbell to the Duke of Montrose' - would have appeared on the front.

Robert Campbell bought and sold cattle under the patronage of the Duke of Montrose. In 1712 he turned from droving to stealing cattle.
