Silver medal (obverse) of Alloa Curling Club
Add to album

This is the obverse of an Alloa Curling Club silver medal. The medal was made in Edinburgh in 1844. It was presented to the club by James Johnstone and awarded between 1844 and 1881.

The obverse has a design featuring two curling brooms laid across one another, with a curling stone in each of the angles.

Curling was the winter sport of mid-Victorian Scotland, in which stones were directed towards a 'tee' cut in the ice.
