Communion plate, associated with Trinity College Kirk, Edinburgh

This plate was part of a remarkable set of communion and baptismal silver acquired by the Trinity College Kirk of Edinburgh in the 1630s. The plate was made by Thomas Kirkwood of Edinburgh.

The plate is shallow and circular with a wide rim and a raised engraved base showing a table set for communion with the actual silver vessels acquired by Trinity College Kirk.

Trinity College Church, which stood on the site of Waverley Station, was founded in 1460 by Mary of Gueldres in memory of her husband James II.
