This framed fragment of tartan is said to have been a 'Portion of the Plaid worn by Prince Charlie'.

Part of the text beneath the tartan fragment reads 'This interesting relic was obtained from Mr Maxwell of Terregles in Dumfriesshire in whose possession are many objects connected with the above time'.
