Painting, of James Grant, 7th Laird of Freuchie

This oil painting of James Grant (1616-1663), seventh Laird of Freuchie, was painted in 1658 by David Scougal. The same artist also painted a portrait of the Laird's wife, Lady Mary Stewart.

The painting shows the laird when he was 42 years old. The title in the corner, 'Laird of Grant', was the conventional way of addressing the laird.

James Grant was a signatory of the National Covenant of 1637.
