Badge (front), used as pass for railway director
Add to album

This is the front of a railway director's gold badge, used as a pass on the Dundee, Perth and Aberdeen Railway. The badge dates from around 1850.

The front is engraved, 'DUNDEE, PERTH & ABERDEEN/RAILWAY JUNCTION/Directors Ticket'. Underneath is the engraver's signature, 'J & C Fenton'.

By the end of the 1860s, Scotland's rail network was almost complete, except for a few lines in the West Highlands.
