Figurine, of George IV
Add to album

This painted and glazed earthenware figurine of George IV was made around 1822, probably at Rathbone's Pottery at Portobello in Midlothian. It was made to mark the visit to Edinburgh of the king, a visit stage-managed by Sir Walter Scott.

The figurine shows the king standing, wearing a crown and a robe. The left hand was broken before the figurine was glazed.
