This silver chalice was found in the grave of a bishop excavated at Whithorn Priory in Wigtownshire. It dates from the 13th century.

The chalice consists of an undecorated silver bowl to which is fixed a long, broken-off silver tang.

The grave also contained a silver paten, a crosier and a large multiple gem ring.
