This powder horn is made of a flattened cow horn. It dates from 1673.
The horn has a pewter nozzle mount. The decoration includes a crowned lion and a unicorn - Scottish royal heraldic symbols. It is inscribed with the date, 1673 and 'IF', thought to be the initials of the owner. The 'F' probably stands for Forbes.
