Teapot

This cast iron teapot was made around 1820 by the Shotts Iron Works in Shotts in Lanarkshire.

The teapot has three small lug-feet and a capacity of approximately one pint. The lid is inscribed 'Shotts'.

In the late 18th century the development of the Lanarkshire coalfield led to the founding of the Carron Company in 1759 followed by the Shotts Iron Works in 1802.
