This silver mustard spoon was part of a service assembled by several generations of the MacLeod of Geanies. The spoon was made in the late 18th century in Calcutta by Hamilton and Co., using a king's pattern design by Morton of Edinburgh.

Items in the service are thought to have been commissioned by Duncan MacLeod, a lieutenant-general in the Bengal Army, and his son Donald Friel Macleod, a prominent administrator in the Indian Civil Service.
