Electrotype of a medal (obverse), commemorating the marriage of Mary, Queen of Scots and Henry, Lord Darnley

This is the obverse of a 19th-century electrotype of a bronze medal made in honour of the marriage of Mary, Queen of Scots and Henry, Lord Darnley in 1565.

The obverse has busts of Darnley and Mary face to face. The Latin inscription translates as 'Mary and Henry, by the grace of God, Queen and King of the Scots'. Below is the date, 1565.

Henry, Lord Darnley was Mary's second husband. He was murdered at Kirk o' Field outside Edinburgh.
