This one guinea note (equivalent to one pound and one shilling), was issued by the Leith Banking Company on 1 September 1825.

The note depicts the arrival of George IV at Leith, where he began his state visit to Scotland in 1822. In the background is the Leith Custom House, built in 1811 by Robert Reid. The date on the note has been written by hand.

The Leith Banking Company was founded in 1793 and ceased operating in 1842, with debts of £123,582. One of the bank's account-holders was Sir Walter Scott.
