This wooden model is of the sailing vessel 'Comet' of Leith. The original vessel was built in 1809 for the London and Edinburgh Shipping Company which operated from Leith.

The painted model is built to a scale of 1:48. The original 'Comet' was a 'smack-rigged' vessel which means it was rigged fore-and-aft and had a single mast.
