Paper mould with frame, for manufacturing banknotes of Perth Banking Company

This mould is for the manufacturing of hand made paper banknotes. The design is for the watermark for the Perth Banking Company.

The mould is contained within a wooden frame.

Until the mid 19th century, all banknotes were hand signed and were usually of high quality paper. The paper normally included a distinctive watermark which was often the title of the bank in large letters covering the whole of the note.
