This is one of two sheets of a railway map of Central Scotland was made in 1907, at the height of railway extension in Scotland. This sheet shows Glasgow and the west.

The scale is 2 miles to 1 inch.

The earliest railways carried coal. From the 1840s there was a boom in construction for general freight and passenger use and by the early 20th century most of the populated parts of Scotland could be reached by railway.
