Map of the 'Kingdome of Scotland'

This map of the 'Kingdome of Scotland' was included in the first atlas of the British Isles, 'The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain' by John Speed. The atlas was first printed in London in 1610. This map is from the 1652 edition.

The map is based on Gerard Mercator's map of 1595. Speed has used supplementary information to fill gaps in the map, a typical device of late medieval map-makers.
