This gold penannular bracelet is part of a hoard of gold jewellery and dress accessories found at the Heights of Brae in Ross-shire. It was probably made in Ireland and imported to Scotland sometime between 950 and 750 BC.

Five penannular bracelets with expanded terminals were found in the hoard. This bracelet shows marks from the manufacturing process near the joins with the terminals.

The Heights of Brae hoard was buried either for safekeeping or as a gift to the gods. It contains precious items which were very valuable and rare at the time, and it illustrates the links between Ireland and Scotland in the early 1st millennium BC.
