Spearhead

This iron spearhead was found at the vitrified fort of Castlehill at Dalry in Ayrshire. It was used sometime in the first four centuries AD.

The spearhead has an incomplete socket and broken tip.

Excavations of native settlement sites during the time of the Roman occupation of Scotland often discover weapons of various kinds, showing that conflict, or the threat of it, was becoming much more a part of day-to-day living.
