Rein guide from a yoke

This bronze rein guide from a yoke, also known as a terret, was found at Carlungie in Angus. It dates from the first four centuries AD.

Plain oval-shaped copper alloy terret, from Carlungie, Angus

Entire carts or wagons from this period rarely survive. Often all that is left are metal fittings and bindings, such as the harness fittings which attached a yoke to the harness.
