This bronze strap fitting for a horse harness was found at the important native hillfort site of Traprain Law in East Lothian. It is a of type often found on native sites, and sometimes on Roman ones as well. It dates from between 0 and 200 AD.

The fitting is in the shape of two petals, each with a central boss. There is a square loop at the back. The fitting is somewhat corroded.

A range of harness equipment has been found at Traprain Law. The leather rarely survives, but the metal fittings and ornaments are often preserved. They come in many forms, some quite elaborate and decorative.
