Harness mount
Add to album

This bronze mount was found at the site of the native hillfort at Traprain Law in East Lothian. It was used on a harness sometime during the first two centuries AD.

The mount has a rectangular loop at the back.

A range of harness equipment has been found at Traprain Law. The leather rarely survives, but the metal fittings and ornaments are often preserved. Mounts come in many forms, some quite elaborate and decorative.
