Scraper

This bone scraper was found at Vallay on North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. It may have been used for skinning or dehairing a hide, sometime between 200 BC and 1000 AD.

The tools used for skinning, dismembering, filleting and carving carcasses were simple but efficient, often made from whatever natural resources were at hand.
