Scoop

This bone scoop was found at the Broch of Burray in Orkney. It was used sometime between 0 and 800 AD.

The scoop was made from an animal's shoulder bone. The roughly cut bowl is slightly damaged.

Simple bone scoops could have been used to ladle liquids and foodstuffs during cooking and serving.
