This amber bead was found at Edin's Hall broch in Berwickshire. It dates from between 100 BC to 400 AD.

Amber was much prized from an early time in Scotland. Much of the Scottish amber originated in the Baltic, traded or exchanged as elite gifts. Amber objects were symbols of power, perhaps also valued as amulets due to the electrostatic property of amber.
