TileThis roof tile was found at the site of the Roman fort at Inchtuthil in Perthshire. It was used sometime between 79 and 87 AD. Tegula or flanged tile from Inchtuthill Before the Romans, homes were made with local materials, most of which have long decayed. The Romans introduced a range of new building materials such as plaster, mortar and cement. Tiles and bricks were used for roofing and internal fittings.
