Pothook

This three-pronged iron pothook was found at the site of the Roman fort at Camelon in Stirlingshire. It was used sometime between 80 and 165 AD.

Pothook from Camelon

A range of cooking equipment has been recovered from the Roman forts in Scotland. The forts did not have large mess halls. Instead, cooking was probably organised in groups based on a barrack block or even a barrack room.
